Who We Help

Through our partners in El Salvador,
Guatemala, and Nicaragua we help:

Students

  • Teens living in remote Guatemalan villages can be hours away from the nearest high school. LACF scholarships allow them to attend a city high school by covering the costs of their room, board, tuition, and required uniforms. A high school education opens many opportunities for bright but desperately poor students.

    In Nicaragua, LACF works through Building New Hope to support enhanced education for children of coffee growers at Cooperative El Porvenir.

Rural Families

  • Our clinic, located in rural Ayutepeque, El Salvador, brings healthcare to several hundred children and family members each month. We fund regular doctor hours as well as basic diagnostic tests and medicines. During our periodic health fairs, volunteer doctors and nurses help hundreds of patients in a single day.

Inner City Poor

  • LACF donations support the work of Mission to El Salvador and its outreach to desperate urban families dealing with homelessness and hunger. LACF provided seed money to start a food pantry and supports counseling programs.

Children from families where no one reads or writes, often have delayed motor skills that hinder learning. LACF helps these student by providing art supplies and teacher support so little hands learn pen and paper skills, which improves literacy late on.

Abused Girls
and Women

  • LACF markets quilling cards made at Mission to El Salvador by girls rescued from human trafficking. We also fund a sewing training center to provide abused girls and women marketable skills.

    LACF funds special needs at the Mi Casa House of Life in San Salvador. This includes new kitchen appliances, bathroom remodeling, and an expanded play area for teen mothers and their babies. In conjunction with the EarthWays Foundation, solar panels were installed at Mi Casa, dramatically reducing electric costs, while creating a more reliable electric supply. Lower utility costs frees up funds to help these abused, pregnant girls, many who are still in their early teens.

Elderly

  • LACF donations have supported a rural senior citizen home with struggling caregivers and elderly. Through LACF funding, the senior citizen home got wheelchairs, a new washer and drier, and new beds.
